HVR were contacted after a large leak was noticed coming from a transformer at FMG’s solomon site. Upon arrive and inspection, we immediately noticed that the manufacturer has used rubber nitrle gaskets to seal the tap changer vessel. In Australian, sun and heat and in the presence of oil, rubber nitrle gaskets degrade quickly. We dissasembled the tap changer pipes and replaced with more suitable cork gqaskets and had the trransformer back online and ready for the cutomer.
