This main grid transformer had a number of issues when HVR were contacted to conduct a field repair under a tight outage window allowed by the main load consumer. A cracked bushing, Leak repairs from the radiator and failed arc bridges in the on-load tap changer diverter switch. Within this tight time frame we:
- Drained the entire transformer.
- Removed all 20 radiators and re-installed with new gaskets
- Removed on-load tap changer diverter switch, installed new arc-bridges, conducted maintenance.
- Removed and replaced a cracked HV bushing.
- Fixed leaks on all inspection hatches and equalising pipework.
- Re-filled via our oil processing plant with filtered and cleaned oil.
The transformer was returned to our client within the timeframe and the grid was back in time for the sites main loads to resume work.
