They just don’t build them like they used to…. for a reason. This main switchboard for an Apartment Building in WA’s northwest had been installed in a time where electrical safety is not taken as seriously as it is today. As a result, live bus bars were exposed, although in a locked room. An interim measure had been put in place with Perspex screens, but a safer solution was required. HVR arrived on scene and swapped the apartment building over to a temporary generator connection over half a day. We then removed the old switchboard and installed the new unit while under a time pressure. On the final day, we swapped the building back to grid power the apartment just in time for the post-work air conditioning load increase.
